Organic Orange Sponge Cake

Hello, folks!

Today we bring you a very simple but delicious recipe to give you an idea of how to make the most out of your organic oranges. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 organic oranges
  • 250 g sugar
  • 300 g baking flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 15 g baking powder
  • 100 ml mild extra virgin olive oil (you can also use sunflower oil)

Recommended:

  • A little unsalted butter to grease the baking tin

Preparation instructions

1 Preheat the oven to 180º (360º) with heat up and down while you begin to prepare the mixture. We will also grease the mould with butter and a little flour (if there is any flour left over, remove it), so that it will be ready when we mould it.

2 Wash our 2 organic oranges very well and grate the peel with a grater. Avoid reaching the white part.
Then squeeze the oranges to obtain 200 millilitres of juice. It is advisable to pass it through a sieve to remove the pulp.

3 Sieve the flour and yeast into a large bowl and set aside.

4 In another bowl, add the eggs, orange juice, orange zest, oil and sugar. Mix well.

5 When everything is well mixed, gradually add the flour mixed with the baking powder using a hand whisk.

6 Once the mixture is ready and free of lumps, pour it into a mould that has already been greased with butter and a little flour.

7 o test that our sponge cake is ready, we can prick it in the centre with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, it is ready. When it is ready, take it out of the oven and leave it to cool.

And that’s it! Did you see how easy it is? Now it’s your turn!

Have a great week. 🙂
